Earring Care & Safety

Our earrings are handmade using basswood and surgical-steel findings. Depending on the design, the basswood may be painted, stained and/or sealed.

Because each pair is handmade, slight variations in wood grain, colour, pattern and finish are natural and may occur between pieces.

Caring for your earrings

To help keep your earrings looking their best:

  • Keep them dry and avoid any contact with water.

  • Remove your earrings before showering, bathing or swimming.

  • Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray or other cosmetics directly onto the earrings.

  • Avoid exposing the wood to oils, solvents or household chemicals.

  • Store your earrings somewhere cool and dry when you are not wearing them.

  • Avoid bending, dropping or putting pressure on the earrings.

  • Handle the earrings by the finding where possible rather than pulling or twisting the wooden element.

Wood is a natural material and can absorb moisture. Prolonged exposure to water or humidity may affect the appearance, shape or finish of the wood.

Even when sealed, wooden earrings should not be considered waterproof unless the individual product description specifically states otherwise.

If you have a known metal allergy or sensitivity, please check the materials listed for the specific pair before purchasing. If you are unsure whether a particular design is suitable for you, please contact Mushroom and Moon before ordering.

I do not claim that all earrings are suitable for people with metal allergies or sensitivities unless this is specifically stated and supported by information about the materials used.

Safety

Mushroom and Moon earrings are intended for adult use and are not toys.

The earrings contain small components which may present a choking hazard to young children. Keep earrings and their components away from babies and children.

If you experience irritation, discomfort or an allergic reaction while wearing the earrings, remove them and seek appropriate medical advice if necessary.
